  • Welcome to my 5th grade class:)

Our motto for the 2020-2021 school:

    We are Survivors!

My name is Mrs. Karen Ann Bliss.  I have taught Language Arts and Reading at the eighth grade level, and Math at the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade level, at Thunder Mountain Middle School for thirteen years.  When Thunder Mountain closed, I chose to follow my Principal to Peralta Trail Elementary School, and teach Math to fifth graders.  So, this is my 11th year at Peralta and I am really enjoying teaching my fifth graders.  First time ever that I am taller than most of my students! Twenty-four years teaching means you get to teach the students of previous students!!!  I love seeing the last names again and again!

I have an Associates Degree in Elementary Eduaction from Central Arizona College, here in Apache Junction, a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education through Arizona State University, a Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision through University of Phoenix, but I love the kids, so I will stay in the classroom:)

My Husband, Wayne, and I have been married thirty one years and share a blended family.  Jennifer Owen, and John and Harlan Bliss, are our three kids together.  All three attended Four Peaks Elementary School, Apache Junction Junior High, which is now Cactus Canyon Junior High, and Apache Junction High School.  Jennifer and Jake have my wonderful Grandson, Cody, and baby girl, Aubri. John and Nicole have my other fantastic Grandson, Bryce.  John and Shawna have Sebastian and Zander, two more Grandsons!  The kids are best Buddies and love to get together and play at our house.

We also have a much loved Pug, Daisy Duke:)  Daisy is a Medical Alert Service Dog that I trained.  We both received our training with Tuni House, who runs the  Paws 4 Life program, a nonprofit organization, check out their site at www.paws4life.netDaisy and I are learning how to pick up each others signals before I have an asthma attack, so I can plan ahead and pretreat before it gets too bad.  We are still both learning and working at it.  Daisy is 14 years old now, diabetic, so we help each other and the kids love her:)

When we are not working:) we love to go camping, hiking, fishing, and side by side and dirt bike riding with our family.  We love family get togethers, barbecues, and having fun because we are a very close and big family.

Check out our class bog at http://blogs.goaj.org/kabliss/ all the work  is from your kids:) and I am so proud and excited to share this with our parents!

Thank you for a wonderful start to a new school year!  This year is a little different, but we are safe, and that is all that matters right now.  We will bring you wonderful, detailed, and super fun lesson plans soon.  We love and miss you and hope to see you soon, when it is safe for all of us!  Thank you, Karen and Daisy Duke, no emojis is hard!  lol Can't wait to see you on July 17, Friday, for Meet the Teacher Night:)
