Welcome to the Counseling Department!
Apache Junction Counselors are committed to providing services and resources to all students in order to enhance their academic achievement, career development and personal and social growth. This team works collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, staff and administration to provide a positive high school experience, while also preparing students for their post secondary goals.
We are pleased to welcome two new counselors to Apache Junction High School. For the past three years Kelsey Romero has been a counselor at Marana High School and Higley High School. Ms. Romero was born and raised in Southern California and has spent time living abroad in the Netherlands. She received her BA in Liberal Studies from California State University - Northridge and her MS in Educational Counseling from the University of La Verne.
Ms. Romero will be responsible for all students whose last names begin with letters A through K. She can be reached via email at email@example.com.
Santiago Ayala should be familiar to many of you as he started at AJHS last spring. Originally born and raised in Tempe, Mr. Ayala played football at Idaho State University where he earned his BS in Physical Education. Afterward, he obtained his Massage Therapy License and Arizona Real Estate License. He received his MS in Mental Health Counseling and his License Associate Counselor designation through the Arizona Board of Health Examiners.
