Meet the Superintendent

    Heather Wallace began her duties as Superintendent on July 1, 2021.  

    Superintendent Wallace has 24 years as an educator in the Apache Junction Unified School District.  Prior to becoming the Superintendent, Heather most recently worked as the Executive Director of Educational Services for 6 years after her term as the Superstition Mountain Elementary Principal.  She began her educational career as an elementary teacher at Gold Canyon Elementary School  and during her 24 years in the district she has spent time as a librarian, reading specialist, federal grants administrator, special education and curriculum director.

    A native of Waterford, Connecticut, Heather has been a resident of Gold Canyon, Arizona since July 2000.  She  holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Northern Arizona University; additionally she holds a Masters in Education with an Emphasis in Reading Instruction, a Masters in Educational Leadership, and is currently completing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership.

    Heather Wallace is a proven instructional leader with a variety of experiences bringing people together to achieve a shared vision that has always been guided by her focus to do what is best for all children.  Heather has spent countless hours helping create a positive culture in the Apache Junction School District that is committed to all students and families.

    She and her husband, Jef, an art teacher, have three children, Emma, Molly, and Greta.
