Mr. Young

Hello Parents and Families,

Welcome back to school! I will be your child's 2nd grade teacher for the up and coming 2020-21 school year. I am very excited to be teaching my seventh year at Peralta Trail and my thirteenth year teaching overall.  I know that we are facing challenging times right now and are all trying to do the best we can. As we take this journey together whether we are online or in the building, I assure you that I will be here to help support you in any way that I can. I have a great deal of empathy and understanding for all of you who are trying to work and have your kids at home! We just had a little girl last November (see photos below). You can access me for support through the camera during instructional hours and anytime through Dojo or email. If you need me to call you or Zoom you for a personal a meeting just let me know and we can arrange a time. Here is a little bit about my journey…

My life journey started in Okinawa, Japan where I was born. Both my mother and father were in the United States Air Force. I lived in Japan until I reached the age of two and moved to England. I lived in England up until, ironically, I was in second grade. I then moved with my family stateside and lived a year here and there in various states across the country before settling in Tucson, Arizona at the age of ten. I lived in Tucson until I graduated high school and moved to Mesa to play football at Mesa Community College, Go Thunderbirds! I started out as an accounting major because of my extreme love for math. I did an internship in my program and realized that I was not going to be able to sit in a cubicle for the rest of my life. I saw my counselor and she gave me an aptitude test. That test said that I was destined to be a teacher.  I took my first teaching class and fell in love with the art. I received Associates in Education and transferred to Arizona State University. There I received my Bachelor's degree in education, and here I sit doing what I love; teaching kids! I am happily married to my lovely wife who also teaches at Peralta as a kindergarten teacher. We lived in Tempe and taught in Phoenix, but 8 years ago we built a house here in Apache Junction.  We are very proud to be teaching in our own community doing what we love! Eight months ago Mrs. Young and I had a little girl who goes by the name of Emerson Ryan Young. I am very excited to learn about all of you this year!

Your teacher,
